East Peckham Primary School

Admissions Arrangements

East Peckham Primary School is a mixed school for children aged between four and eleven years. We will be pleased to make arrangements for you to visit the school and to discuss your child’s education with the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.

Joining our Reception Class at the start of the year

Children joining us in our Reception Class are admitted to the school in the Autumn Term of the academic year in which they have their fifth birthday. We hold Open Events throughout the Autumn Term before the children attend so parents and carers can see the school in action. These dates will be published on our website. There is no need to book a place for these events and if you cannot attend any of the dates on offer or would like a personal tour of the school, please contact us and we can make arrangements for you. Parents should complete an application form and provide proof of the date of birth. The school will then contact parents during the term before the child starts school. A supportive transition programme has been devised to ensure pupils have a positive start to school. The programme includes home visits by the class teacher and teaching assistant, parents' meetings, taster sessions for the children and a gradual introduction of children to school life.

30 places are normally available for Reception class admissions.

Children are admitted to the Reception class during the Autumn Term of the academic year of their fifth birthday. Arrangements for that year will be explained at a meeting with parents prior to admission.

At East Peckham Primary School we aim to make the transition from home to school as easy as possible for parents and children. We invite parents to attend many of the events that we hold at the school in the year prior to entry for example the PTA run Summer Fair. In the term before entry children are invited to visit the school on several occasions, both with playgroups (where appropriate) and parents. All parents have an opportunity to meet their child’s teacher before the child starts school.

A new intake pack is given to help parents with the process.
