From September 2014, along with the introduction of the new National Curriculum, schools are required to establish assessment systems that no longer make use of levels and sublevels. We have already begun to design a comprehensive assessment system here at East Peckham, however as levels are what children and parents are familiar with, we will continue to use these through the next few months, until we are fully ready to introduce the new system to you. To help us to assess pupil's progress towards attainment targets from the new curriculum, we have created 'assessment ladders' for each subject (see below). Class teachers will then assess whether pupils are meeting or exceeding the associated skills for their age and year group. To help parents to become familiar with the requirements of the new curriculum, we have created new layered targets sheets for reading, writing and maths for each year group. Click on the link below to see the key learning targets that we expect children in each group to be able to achieve by the end of each academic year. Layered Targets will also be coming home with pupils as part of their home learning folder next term. Should you have any questions about the new systems, please do not hesitate to come into school to ask us.
